Robert Lee ACTAR AccreditedRobert Lee has 25 years of accident reconstruction experience and is a retired Captain of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, where he began his law enforcement career in 1990.  He transferred to the SCHP Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) in 2000, although he began reconstruction training in 1994. Rising through the ranks of the MAIT unit, Lee served as Sergeant and First Sergeant of Pee Dee MAIT, where his team was the first in South Carolina to have animation and the event data recorder (EDR) admitted into evidence during a criminal trial and where his team never lost a criminal trial during his tenure there. Lee then served as Lieutenant of MAIT at SCHP Headquarters in Columbia SC until he was promoted to Captain of MAIT to serve as its commander. As Captain of the MAIT, Lee wrote the SCHP’s Hit and Run Protocol in addition to its investigative and case management systems. During the latter part of his tenure as commander of MAIT, Lee was appointed by then-Governor Nikki Haley to serve as acting Sheriff of Chesterfield County, SC. Lee then served as Chief Deputy for the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office. Lee has full accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR), is a member of NAPARS, and is retired from the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Association of Reconstruction Specialists (SCARS), in which he has a lifetime membership.
